Midair “Stroll” over Aso Grasslands

I visited Mt. Aso in the summer to collect information on the tourist sites there. When we think of Mt. Aso, many well-known attractions come to mind, such as the caldera scenery, the crater, Kusasenri (a beautiful plain, 1 km in diameter, located on a crater site), and the numerous hot springs. But the grassy plains of Mt. Aso and its outer rim, where cattle and horses graze, should not be forgotten either. They are another major attraction of Aso tourism. The sight of Akaushi cattle leisurely chewing grass on pastureland by the roadside is a peaceful scene sure to sooth the minds of people enjoying a drive in the area.
On this visit, I was able to take a helicopter ride and view the grasslands from above. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to see the vast scale of the grasslands on Mt. Aso’s outer rim, which is hard to appreciate from ground level. I took some video from the helicopter, so if you want to see a little more of my midair “stroll,” please click on the following URL: http://youtu.be/u0t8iD3kZcU.
